Engaging Our Community
Edmonton Foodbank which was birth in 2011, officially opened in December 2012 and became operational in April 2013, was the vision of the New Covenant Church Edmonton leaders under the guidance of Pastor Tayo Arowojolu. It is a charitable organisation that provides emergency food (non-perishable) to the hungry. The services of Foodbanks are often mixed up with that of the social security/benefits agencies which are organisations required by law to cater for the unemployed and those on low income. Edmonton Foodbank is mostly run by volunteers who help sort and give out food to the customers /clients. Our aims include the following:
To provide non-perishable food.
Act as a training centre for young people and adults who require work experience in order to advance into other jobs.
To signpost at least 100 clients to where they can get permanent assistance as necessary.
Advance the Christian faith through charitable works.
Get more donors and volunteers.
Partner with more Referral agencies.
Apply for funding from private organisations and corporate institutions.
Conduct fundraising activities within the borough.
To give out food hampers to the vulnerable within the community during the Christmas period.
Ministries and Departments Within The Church
At NCCEDMONTON, we have various ministries within the local church, opening up opportunities for members to serve in God’s House. We encourage our departments to engage society beyond the walls of the physical church, being a blessing as Ambassadors of Christ Jesus.
